Kia Carens Clavis EV: Kia India has launched its much-anticipated Carens Clavis EV, marking the company’s entry into the locally manufactured electric vehicle segment. Priced from Rs 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Clavis EV is a seven-seater electric recreational vehicle (RV) designed and engineered at Kia’s Anantapur manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh. This launch represents a major step forward in the brand’s vision for accessible, family-focused electric mobility in India.
Two Battery Options, Up to 490km Range
The Carens Clavis EV comes in two battery configurations. The 42kWh battery variant, certified by ARAI, offers a range of 404km. The larger 51.4kWh battery, certified under MIDC, promises a range of up to 490km on a single charge. Both variants support 100kW DC fast charging, enabling a 10 to 80 per cent charge in just 39 minutes.
The SUV is offered with two electric motor options—a 99kW and a 126kW unit—producing up to 255Nm of peak torque. The top-spec version can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds, offering a competitive mix of performance and efficiency.
Technology-Driven Comfort and Design
Inside the cabin, Kia has integrated a large 26.62-inch panoramic display that merges the infotainment and instrument cluster. Additional highlights include ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, a dual-pane sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, and an 8-speaker Bose audio system.
Passenger-focused features such as one-touch tumble second-row seats, Boss Mode, rear tech holders, wireless phone charging, and a seat-mounted air purifier with AQI display underline Kia’s focus on comfort and practicality.

A Strategic Launch for Kia in India’s EV Space
With the launch of the Carens Clavis EV, Kia aims to offer a well-rounded electric mobility solution that combines affordability, performance, and comfort. Positioned below premium EV SUVs and above entry-level electric hatchbacks, the Clavis EV is expected to appeal to urban families seeking a spacious yet modern electric SUV.
Kia’s focus on local production, safety, connected features, and fast-charging infrastructure signals its commitment to India’s growing EV market. The success of the Clavis EV will likely depend on how well it competes with emerging rivals in the mid-premium electric SUV segment.
Designed for Indian Roads, Built for the Future
The Carens Clavis EV has been thoughtfully engineered to suit Indian driving conditions. Its ground clearance, suspension setup, and thermal management system are all tailored to handle the country’s diverse terrains and climate. The battery pack is IP67-rated for dust and water resistance and comes with a liquid-cooled system, ensuring stable performance even during peak summers or long drives. The inclusion of Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology allows users to power external devices—an especially useful feature during outdoor activities or emergencies.
Kia has also prioritized sustainability and long-term usability, offering over-the-air (OTA) updates to enhance software performance and introduce new features without needing a service visit. This approach aligns with global EV trends, making the Clavis EV not just a product of today, but a vehicle ready for the tech demands of tomorrow. With a wide service and charging infrastructure already in place and expanding rapidly, Kia appears well-positioned to gain ground in India’s competitive EV landscape.
As government incentives and urban EV adoption increase, the Clavis EV arrives at a time when practical, feature-rich electric vehicles are gaining momentum. It blends premium features with an approachable price, potentially offering an ideal balance for Indian EV buyers looking beyond entry-level options.
